  Baby Henry
Baby Henry is now 5 months old and we've yet to meet him. However this week we booked tickets to spend thanksgiving weekend with Rob, Sarah and Henry in San Diego. Here are some up-to-date pictures of him in some of the gear we sent him.

  UN, U2 and lots and lots of rain
Its been quite a while since I did a posting so theres a bit to say and lots of pictures!
Last weekend the rain started here in New York. Really raining. This weekend the rain has stopped. Yes, a whole week of torrential rain. People say the weather in England is always wet but i've never seen anything like last week here!
Last weekend we had a nice day out on Saturday. We went on a tour of the United Nations building on the shores of the East River stretching down from 46th to 42nd St. It was build in the 50s as you'd expect and has some of the most wonderful architecture. Its due for a complete refurbishment at the beginning of 2006 so we had to get there before it was all changed!
Here are some of the pictures;

Outside the UN (Carrie is the one with the umbrella by the statue!}

The meeting room of the UN security council

The meeting room of the UN General Assembly

...and while we were there we were lucky enough to meet one of the very important international delegates to the UN.....

This is the rain on way home!

A drowned rat..

We were really lucky last week too and managed to get hold of tickets to one night of the sold out U2 world tour at Madison Square Garden. It was a great concert, fantastic light shows etc. The people here love U2 so the crowd was really amazing as well. They made a lot of noise! They were supported by Keane, who were alright I suppose!
We've been checking some of the independent picture houses too. Last night we saw 'Masculine, Feminine', a Jean Luc Godard film at a cinema called the 'Film Forum' in SoHo. This week 'Harakiri', a Japanese samurai film is on at the Lincoln Center Film Society. We can walk there from our apartment, so we'll definitely be going to that!
Whilst we were down in the village this weekend we spotted a great record player in a window of a record shop, so we bought it! Its got a fantastic name, its a Planetron 2000! Made in 1968 and shaped like a spaceship - how can it get much better ?
It also has a radio so we can listen to KROC New York, and a knackered 8-track which is really no loss to us. [Ralph - theres a project for you when you come over!?]
Here are some pictures of the fantastic futuristic Planetron 2000! It also sounds pretty good too....

  The Killers
Well, last week was quite good fun.
Apart from is being my first week at work, we also had our first hourse guests over from the UK. Chris Hall and his girlfriend Jo, friends of ours from the dive club we were members of in London came to stay. They were over in Manhattan as Chris had managed to procure two tickets to see [ahem] Elton John at Madison Square Garden [I think someone had paid him to take the tickets off their hands...]. They booked into a hotel in Little Italy, but came to stay with us when they realised they didn't even have hot water! We had a nice week going out on the town with them.
Last night Carrie and I went to Jones Beach, Long Island to see The Killers play, as a warm up gig for the 'Across the narrows' Festival they're headlining on Staten Island this weekend. Also supporting was the British Sea Power, a UK band I've liked for a while. Overall the night was really good, great sets from both bands. The setting was really cool too, an amphitheatre surrounded by water! Its the only gig i've been to where there was a boat next to the stage.
And of course we got some pictures....

Follow the adventures of Rich and Carrie as we move from the UK to the US.....

This is not the best pic of us both, but until we find a better one, it'll do. We were in Moscow, thats why it looks cold, and we couldn't find anyone to take a picture for us. We'll be adding to this blog as we (try and) set ourselves up for a couple of years in Manhattan.
